About Me

Paula

I will never forget the first time I saw a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. The year was 1989, and I was flipping through a magazine in a doctor’s office. I turned a page, and suddenly an advertisement depicting a beautiful red and white dog lying on a sofa absolutely mesmerized me. I had no idea what breed the dog was, but the hunt was on. After showing several veterinarians the photo, I finally learned the beautiful dog was a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

I purchased my first show Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy, Ravenrush Haute Couture, from Ravenrush Cavaliers. She was a gorgeous tricolor Best Dressed daughter I called “Trenda”. My first time showing Trenda was at a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club Fun Match. Trenda won Best In Match, and I was hooked.

Trenda went on to become a Champion and gave me my first of many homebred champions, CH. Luxxar Deep Ellum, “Parker”. As a 9 month old puppy, Parker broke a record in the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club to become the youngest champion dog. Parker went on to win multiple Best In Shows in the CKCSC. After Cavaliers were recognized by the AKC in 1996, Parker won an AKC All Breed Best In Show under renowned Judge Dorothy Nickles. Soon after, he was the first Cavalier in Texas to become an AKC Champion. He went on to win 21 Group One placements.

I have since enjoyed the privilege of sharing my love and home with many more special Cavaliers, including multiple Best in Show winning dogs and over 70 championships. Here are just a few of the many exceptional dogs and their accomplishments from the past and the present of Luxxar Cavaliers:

My beloved Anna made such an important impact on the foundation of the Luxxar breeding program with her beauty, wonderful type, and strong heart history which has been passed on to Anna's children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and beyond. She and her son, Gizmo, were both completely heart clear by a cardiologist at age 11. For over 20 years as a breeder of Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, I have continued with a solid, good heart history.

BISS CH Ravenrush Best Dressed of Luxxar, ROM can be seen on the back cover of “Cavalier King Charles Spaniels Today”, written by another breeder judge, Sheila Smith of the renowned Salador Cavaliers. Mrs. Smith wrote that he was, “an outstanding example of a tricolour male with a beautiful head and showing true breed type.”

Luxxar Cavaliers remains committed to breeding healthy, beautiful, happy Cavaliers with an unwavering dedication to improving the health of our precious breed. As an active exhibitor, I recently finished 5 bred by champions in less than a year: CH Luxxar Jolene, CH Luxxar Avinator, CH Luxxar Sam, CH Luxxar Justin Case, and CH Luxxar Rio.

I am currently a member of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club, USA and a board member of The Dallas Fort Worth Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club. I am also a member of Cavaliers of the Midwest, Cavaliers of the Northeast, Cavaliers of the South, and Cavaliers of the West. I previously served on the CKCSC Board of Cavaliers of the Midwest and am currently a CKCSC, USA Judge.
